The Christening of Prince George Alexander Louis of Cambridge
Wednesday at 3:00pm London time should be a momentous occasion for the British Royal Family. I say ‘should’ because I believe by not inviting senior members of the royal family that William and Kate have made a huge mistake. Not invited are Princess Royal, Prince Andrew, Prince Edward, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie to what even The Archbishop of Canterbury has spoken of as “hugely important” baptism of Prince George.
The Most Rev Justin Welby said the baby son of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge would be joining two billion people around the world in the “family of the church” when he baptises him on Wednesday. Ironic then that “the family of the Prince William” won’t be joining this important part of British history and celebration of a prince who will one day be the head of state.
Let’s not kid ourselves that the Chapel Royal is a “cozy place, not big enough to invite many guests” It was after all where Queen Victoria got married. Had William wanted his aunt, uncles and cousins there… they would have been there.
Then again, had they “been there” for him, his brother and more importantly to him, his mother when she was alive they would have almost certainly have made the list. The same goes for the Spencers who I think will also be absent. William is showing that his new ‘functional’ family are the Middletons and in doing so dumbing down the future of the royal family.
